EvenUp is a San Francisco-based legal-tech startup founded in late 2019 by Rami Karabibar (CEO), Raymond Mieszaniec (COO), and Saam Mashhad (CPO and Chief of Product & Legal Operations), three Canadian-expats driven to reform personal-injury law through artificial intelligence.

The idea behind EvenUp arose from a personal tragedy: Mieszaniec’s father, catastrophically injured in a car accident, received compensation far below its fair value—an experience that illuminated systemic opacity and injustice in personal-injury settlements.

United by this mission, the founders built an AI platform that translates raw legal materials—medical records, bills, police reports—into polished “demand packages.” These AI-generated documents guide attorneys in requesting fair settlements, with built-in predictive insights based on over 250,000 verdicts and settlements.

EvenUp’s early traction grew quickly: its Series B round ($50.5 million), led by Bessemer Growth along with Bain Capital Ventures, Clio, SignalFire, NFX, and DCM, validated its vision and technology. By October 2024, it raised a $135 million Series D led by Bain Capital Ventures (with participation from Lightspeed, Bessemer, Premji Invest, SignalFire, B Capital), elevating its valuation beyond the $1 billion unicorn threshold and bringing total funding to around $235 million.

The startup serves over 1,000 law firms, helping streamline case preparation—boosting settlements (often by ~30%) and doubling revenue year-over-year. Its workforce in the U.S. and Canada also more than doubled, supported by four newly launched sub-products, including an AI assistant for real-time legal queries and tools to identify missing documents.

In July 2025, after operating fully remote for years, EvenUp unveiled a 10,300 ft² headquarters in downtown San Francisco, signaling a shift to a hybrid work model and further expansion. The team grew from ~100 to ~500 employees across San Francisco and Toronto in just two years, and now serves over 1,500 personal-injury law firms.
