Philip Harnett Corboy

 

Philip Corboy was a powerhouse legend amongst trial lawyers and I had seen him speak and throw some of the most amazing parties at various conferences over the years. In 2007, I met him in Dublin at an ABA Litigation conference and, despite his failing health, he looked so radiant I persuaded him to pose for some portrait photographs. Returning immediately by train to my Cork City studio, I painted this informal sketch of his dynamic energy and infectious vitality. I later took the canvas to Chicago and it was purchased for the family collection.
